Know when to speak & when to STFU
We at the brandarchist support 100 Roses from Concrete on the regular, and they’ve informed us about an immediate call to action — a call to action in which we’d like all of you across the globe to join.
We all (should) remember during the 2020 Vice Presidential Debate when Vice President Kamala Harris responded to former Vice President Mike Pence, “Mr. Vice President, I’m speaking,” when he kept interrupting her. This is the “normal” for many women, and it needs to stop.
Thus, for Women’s History Month, the ladies from 100 Roses from Concrete, inspired by VP Harris, led the organization in making a bold move in elevating women’s voices. So, the week of March 15–21, they are asking men to STFU and listen to women.
Here’s how you can be a part of it all:
Women, do your thing! Speak up and speak loud. Your voices deserve to be heard, and you have every right to say #STFUImSpeaking.
Say the words “I’m speaking” or include the words in a photo and share on social media using #STFUImSpeaking to show your voice matters and encourage other women to have their voices heard.
Men, make a choice and silence your voices for one(1) week, listen and promote women voices #STFUTheyAreSpeaking #ImListening
Cover your mouth — use your hand, duct tape, or another object — and share on social media using #STFUTheyAreSpeaking #ImListening to encourage other men to stay silent as well.
Take it a step forward and don’t share your opinions or thoughts; ONLY share posts from women using #STFUTheyAreSpeaking #ImListening
To see it in action, follow our own Gary J. Nix on Twitter or LinkedIn, or follow 100 Roses on Twitter, Instagram, and LinkedIn, and don’t forget to join in!
